Ahtayaa Leigh’s 7 Pieces of Heart-Centered Advice for Every Energy Healer

Hello, beautiful soul. Over my many years of practicing and teaching energy healing, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with countless healers from all walks of life. To walk this path is to answer a profound calling, a commitment to serve and hold space for others. It is truly sacred work. But in our dedication to our clients, I’ve noticed it can be easy to forget that we, too, require nurturing and guidance.

I’ve learned that the most effective and resilient healers are those who are deeply committed to their own evolution. So, from my heart to yours, I want to share seven pieces of advice I return to again and again. Whether you are just beginning or have been practicing for years, my hope is that this wisdom helps you deepen your practice and sustain your energy for the beautiful journey ahead.

1. The Source of Power is Within You

This is the most vital shift any healer can make. Many of us are taught to “pull” or “call in” energy from an external source. While well-intentioned, I believe this can create a dynamic of dependency. I am here to tell you that you are the source. At the center of your heart is your Inner Central Sun, an infinite, self-generating wellspring of divine energy.

This understanding changes our role as healers. We move from being a passive conduit to a sovereign creator. And from this place, our primary purpose is not to “heal” others by giving them our energy, but to empower them to connect with their own infinite, inner source. To do this, we act as a human tuning fork. By sourcing energy from our own Inner Sun, we cultivate a clear and coherent resonance. During a session, our vibration doesn’t overpower the recipient’s; it simply reminds their energy field of its own harmonious blueprint, helping them attune to their own inner light. This approach fosters empowerment, which is the foundation of all true healing, and it begins with you tapping into Source from within.

2. Embody the Transformation

To become that clear and effective tuning fork, you must be a living embodiment of transformation. What truly attracts clients is your personal vibration, even more than the specific techniques you practice. The quality of your resonance is determined by your commitment to your own healing journey, to facing your shadows and expanding your consciousness.

This work is not just a profession; it is a way of being. It requires you to walk the path of healing in your own life with integrity and dedication. When you fully commit to your own evolution, you understand that you can’t just learn the technique; you must live the transformation. Your life itself becomes your message, and your presence alone inspires others more deeply than words ever could.

3. Embrace Your Shadow as a Path to Service

A core part of embodying transformation is the courageous and compassionate exploration of our inner shadows. Shadow work is essential. One of the most profound shifts in my own journey came from understanding past traumas not just as personal wounds, but from the higher perspective of lineage and collective healing. Many of us, as lightworkers, agreed to incarnate as transmuters, as agents of transformation for our entire ancestral line and for humanity.

When you can see your challenges through this lens, forgiveness and acceptance become possible. Your healing is no longer just for you; it becomes a sacred act of service that ripples out through generations. From this perspective, the transmuted pain becomes a powerful gift of light. This is the heart of what it means to be a lightworker: to bravely face the darkness within and transmute it into light for the benefit of all. It helps to ask, “Why did I experience trauma?” to align with the greater mission of your soul.

4. Cultivate a Beginner’s Mind Through “Both/And” Thinking

I believe the moment we think we know it all is the moment our growth stagnates. The universe is infinitely intelligent, and the realms of energy healing are just as expansive. A key to staying open is to release rigid, “either/or” thinking and embrace the fluid wisdom of “both/and.”

Often, we resist new information because we fear it means our previous beliefs were “wrong.” This is the trap of the ego. With “both/and” thinking, we can embrace several perspectives without conflict. A new truth doesn’t have to invalidate an old one; it can be an expansion of it. The belief you held yesterday was a perfect stepping stone for the wisdom you are integrating today.

A perfect example of this in my own work is the evolution from the traditional 7-chakra system to the expanded awareness of the Rainbow Body. I don’t teach that the 7-chakra model is “wrong.” It has been and continues to be a powerful and valid map. Rather, I see the Rainbow Body as an expansion of that system, restoring it to its original fullness and wholeness. It’s not a replacement; it’s a remembrance. This “both/and” approach allows us to honor the wisdom that came before while embracing the deeper truths now available to us, as we learn what the Rainbow Body is as a guide to full-spectrum embodiment.

5. Trust Your Unique Intuitive Language

Techniques and protocols provide an essential framework. They are the container. But the magic, the true art of healing, flows from your intuition. Your soul has a unique way of perceiving and translating energy, and I’ve seen it speak in images, feelings, or a simple, quiet knowing. Learning to trust this inner guidance is paramount.

So often, I see healers get caught up in worrying if they are “doing it right.” While structure is important, a session truly takes flight when you allow your intuition to lead. It is the compass that guides you to the root of an issue. Honing this connection is a practice in itself, and understanding the role of intuition in energy healing sessions can help you build the confidence to let your soul’s wisdom shine through.

6. Cultivate Fierce Discernment

Once you trust your intuition, you must apply it to the world with discernment. This isn’t about judgment; it’s about energetic recognition. The spiritual marketplace is crowded, and your body is the ultimate tool for sensing truth. If a teaching, teacher, or modality feels “off” in your system, it is, even if you can’t logically explain why.

Ask yourself: “Does this make me feel more sovereign and connected to my own power, or does it create dependency?” True guidance will always lead you back to yourself. This is how you navigate the spiritual world with clarity and avoid the common New Age deceptions that can lead you astray.

7. Prioritize Your Own Energetic Hygiene

Once you recognize that your role is to empower through resonance, maintaining the clarity of your own energy field becomes paramount. In my experience, the most crucial practice for any energy practitioner is impeccable energetic hygiene. You simply cannot be a clear tuning fork if your own energy is murky. I’ve learned that to keep my channel clear, I must tend to my own energetic field with unwavering diligence. Regular self-healing isn’t a luxury; it’s a foundational necessity.

Without a consistent practice, you risk accumulating energetic debris, which can lead to burnout and less effective sessions. My daily rituals are non-negotiable. Before and after working with clients, I always take time to clear my field. A great place to start is with a beginner’s guide to aura cleansing to keep your energy vibrant and sovereign. Please remember, your most important client is you.

Walking this path is a beautiful journey. By embracing these principles, you not only elevate your practice but also create a sustainable and deeply authentic spiritual life. Your dedication to your own growth is the greatest gift you can give to your clients and to the world.
